Dear St. Jacobi Friends,
 This month marks a new era at St. Jacobi. Let me introduce your new Designated Pastor: Moi, me!

That’s right! We just signed the deal, so we’ll be seeing a lot of each other. I feel blessed to be among you. Your good cheer and faithfulness to St. Jacobi and to one another warms my heart, and makes me eager to work with you for God’s splendid Kingdom.

Since I am not Lutheran, let me tell you a little about myself:

I grew up in Lock Haven, PA, spent one year at LHSTC (now LHU), moved to Mansfield STC (U) for two years. Then the summer of 1960 happened, and I ended up in NYC at the Mannes College of Music, where I met Joan. She and I were married in 1962 (she had graduated in 1961). I graduated in 1964 and started looking for a job. I ended up at Scholastic, Inc., the educational publisher, where I stayed for 30 years. In the meantime, I sang a slew of opera productions, we had two boys, and in the end, Joan and I decided to go to seminary. (It’s a very long story—in fact, it took two books for me to tell it!) We both earned our M. Div.s in 1997.

We were called to our first church in 1998, a Reformed Church in America in Ulster County, NY. We served them for 7 years and retired to Bushkill. That’s when we started serving Lutheran churches as pulpit supply—(there’s only one RCA church in Pike County)! And now, I’m honored and happy to serve you to best of my humble abilities.

My publisher insisted on it. That’s another long story. SB is the saga of my odyssey to the ministry, and the blurb about it on the website desperately needs to be brought up to date. My apologies....
